Challakere also know as Science city as it has several Science research organizations like IISc, DRDO, BARC and ISRO have set up their establishments here. Just to let you know it is also known as the 'oil city' or "second Mumbai" of India because it is the second largest producer/supplier of edible oil after Mumbai. There are as many as 60+ oil industries. Challkere is also famous for kambali (woven blankets) made by the local Kuruba people. Challakere kambali are sent to various markets across India. The route of this brevet starts from Airlines Hotel, Bangalore after reaching Yeshwantpur it's a straight road on the NH 48 passing through Tumkur, Sira and Hiruyur. At Hiruyur you take right towards Challakere onto the NH 150A after reaching Nehru Circle at Challakere city you return back on the same path. The terrain is rolling and scenic all along the way and you will have winds for company.
